The first weeks after delivery are tiring for the mother and full of questions about the newborn. Aayan Global arranges postnatal care at home in Udupi, Manipal and nearby towns. A trained nurse or baby-care attendant supports the mother's recovery, feeding and rest, and looks after the baby's bathing, cord care and routine. Staff usually start within 24 to 48 hours of the free home assessment, and you can book before the delivery date.
Aayan has provided home nursing since 2015. To plan cover, call +91 73495 13467 with the expected delivery date and the hospital you have chosen. This page is part of our home nursing services in Udupi.

What Postnatal Care Includes
Mother's recovery
Rest, vital-sign checks, medicines as prescribed and care of the perineal or caesarean wound as the doctor advises. The nurse watches for fever, heavy bleeding or wound changes and tells the doctor.
Breastfeeding support
Help with positioning and latch, feeding times and comfort. If pain, cracked nipples or poor feeding continue, the nurse suggests seeing the doctor or a lactation consultant.
Newborn bathing and care
Bathing, dressing, nappy changes and sleep routine, handled gently and with the family shown how to continue.
Umbilical cord care
The cord stump is kept clean and dry as the paediatrician advises, and redness or discharge is reported.
Night support
Night feeds, nappy changes and settling the baby, so the mother can sleep in longer stretches.
Guidance for the family
Safe handling, feeding positions, sleep safety and the signs that need a doctor, explained in simple steps for new parents and grandparents.
After a Normal Delivery or a Caesarean
- Normal delivery: the focus is rest, perineal comfort and hygiene, establishing breastfeeding and getting the mother up and about at her own pace.
- Caesarean: the nurse helps with getting in and out of bed, supports the wound, follows the doctor's medicine schedule and prevents the mother from lifting beyond what is allowed.
- Complicated or high-risk delivery: a GNM or BSc nurse can monitor blood pressure, blood sugar and other readings the doctor has asked to be tracked.
Newborn Signs That Need a Doctor
A nurse is not a substitute for the paediatrician. These signs need medical advice without delay:
- Yellow colour of the skin or eyes, especially if it is spreading or the baby is very sleepy
- Fever, or a very cold baby
- Refusing feeds, repeated vomiting or very few wet nappies
- Fast or laboured breathing
- Redness, swelling or discharge around the cord stump
The nurse records the observation, informs the family and helps reach the doctor.
Shift Options and Monthly Cost
Families choose the cover that fits the household. Night-only shifts suit mothers who have family help in the day, while a 24-hour arrangement suits mothers recovering from a caesarean or with no relatives nearby.
These are starting prices for nursing and caretaker care in Udupi. The final rate depends on the patient's condition, the care needed and the hours required.
| Care setting | Starting price |
| Care at home | ₹900 – ₹1,200 per day (24 hours) |
| Care in hospital | ₹1,300 – ₹1,700 per day (24 hours) |
| Monthly care | From ₹28,000 onwards |
The coordinator confirms the exact figure in writing after the free home assessment. See the home nurse cost page for how the rate is set.

After Discharge from Udupi and Manipal Hospitals
Call us before the delivery or soon after discharge. The coordinator reads the discharge summaries for the mother and the baby, including any vaccination dates and review visits, and the nurse works from them. For caesarean mothers and for patients who need surgery follow-up, see also post-operative care in Udupi.
How Long Families Book
The length is your choice. Some families book only night shifts for two or three weeks, others arrange full-day and night cover for the first month. The coordinator reviews the plan with the mother each week and can step cover down as she regains strength and confidence.
