Male Nurse at Home in Udupi

Male nurse helping an elderly man to stand at home in Udupi

Some patients need a pair of strong, steady hands: a man who is heavy to lift, a stroke survivor learning to stand, or a restless patient at night. Aayan Global arranges male nurses and caretakers for home care in Udupi, Manipal and nearby towns. Ask for a man when you call and we match a trained, background-verified person to the patient's needs, subject to availability. Staff usually start within 24 to 48 hours of the free home assessment.

Aayan has provided home nursing since 2015. Call +91 73495 13467 to ask for a male nurse. This page is part of our home nursing services in Udupi.

When a Male Nurse Is the Better Fit

Lifting and transfers

Moving a heavy patient from bed to chair, to the toilet or into a vehicle is safer with a trained man who knows how to lift without hurting either of you.

Same-gender care for men

Many men are more comfortable being bathed and helped with toileting by another man, especially when the patient is elderly.

Steady presence for restless patients

Patients who are confused, agitated or unsteady often need someone strong enough to guide them safely.

Night shifts

Families often prefer a man for nights, when the patient may need repeated turning, lifting or toilet visits.

What a Male Nurse or Attendant Does

Patient handling and mobility

Turning, sitting up, standing and walking with support, using safe techniques and aids. See bedridden patient care.

Stroke and paralysis support

Help with the exercises the physiotherapist has set and with daily routines after a stroke. See stroke care at home in Udupi.

Fracture and orthopaedic recovery

Support after hip, knee or spine surgery: moving safely, following precautions and going to review visits. See post-operative care in Udupi.

Catheters, tubes and wounds

Catheter, feeding tube and wound care are done by GNM or BSc nurses to hospital protocols, as the doctor orders.

Hygiene and grooming

Bathing, shaving, dressing and toileting, done respectfully and with the patient's dignity in mind.

Night supervision

Staying awake and alert, watching for falls and distress, giving night medicines and writing notes for the morning.

How a Day or Night Shift Runs

A day shift starts with a short handover, then bathing and dressing, breakfast and morning medicines. The middle of the day is for walking practice, the physiotherapist's exercises and rest. Evenings bring dinner, a wash and a last round of medicines.

Night shifts are quieter but more watchful. The attendant turns the patient every two to three hours if ordered, helps with the toilet, checks breathing and comfort, and leaves a note for the family. A daily record is kept for the doctor.

Attendant or Licensed Nurse?

Lifting and walking support needs a strong, trained attendant, not necessarily a nurse. A licensed nurse is needed once the doctor orders injections, catheter or tube care, wound dressings or close monitoring of vital signs. ANM nurses cover routine checks, GNM nurses cover most procedures, and BSc nurses cover complex or unstable cases.

The coordinator recommends the lighter option whenever it is enough. The caretaker vs nurse guide explains the difference.

After Discharge from Udupi and Manipal Hospitals

Patients often return from Kasturba Hospital or KMC Manipal with a discharge summary and a list of precautions, such as limits on bending or weight-bearing. The nurse works from those papers and from the physiotherapist's advice, and records progress for the next review. For exercises and therapy sessions, see physiotherapy at home in Udupi.
