Between chemotherapy cycles, radiation sessions and follow-up visits, a cancer patient and the family carry a heavy load at home. Aayan Global arranges cancer patient care at home in Udupi, Manipal and nearby towns. A GNM or BSc nurse works to the oncologist's written instructions, and a caretaker helps with bathing, meals and moving about. Staff usually start within 24 to 48 hours of the free home assessment.
Aayan has provided home nursing since 2015. Call +91 73495 13467 to talk it through. This page is part of our home nursing services in Udupi.

Where Home Nursing Fits in Cancer Care
Treatment decisions belong to the oncologist. Home nursing covers what happens in between: the days after chemotherapy, recovery from surgery, care during radiation, and comfort when the illness is advanced. The nurse follows the treating team's plan, records how the patient is doing and tells the family and the doctor when something changes.
What the Nurse and Caretaker Do
After chemotherapy
Temperature, pulse, blood pressure and symptoms such as nausea, mouth sores, diarrhoea and tiredness are checked and written down. Fever or other warning signs are reported to the oncologist straight away.
After cancer surgery
Wound and drain care, medicines, gentle movement and diet progression, as the surgeon directs. See also post-operative care in Udupi.
Lines, ports and tubes
Central lines, ports and feeding tubes are looked after by qualified nurses to hospital protocols, within the doctor's instructions.
Pain and medicines
Painkillers, anti-sickness medicines and others are given at the prescribed times. Injections are given only by GNM or BSc nurses.
Food and fluids
Small, frequent meals and fluids as the dietitian or doctor advises, with weight and intake noted.
Daily living and company
Bathing, dressing, walking and company, so the patient does not have to ask relatives for every small task.
Infection Care and Warning Signs
Cancer treatment can lower the body's defences. The nurse follows the oncologist's infection precautions: clean hands, a clean sickroom, safe food handling and fewer visitors when advised. These need the oncologist or emergency care without delay:
- Fever, shivering or feeling suddenly very unwell
- Bleeding, or black or bloody stools
- Breathlessness or chest pain
- Persistent vomiting or being unable to drink
- New swelling, redness or discharge around a wound, port or line
Care After Discharge from Manipal Hospitals
Many patients return home with a discharge summary, a treatment calendar and a list of medicines. The nurse works from those papers and keeps the review dates where the family can see them. For patients treated at Kasturba Hospital or KMC Manipal, the nurse records readings and symptoms daily so the oncologist can read the week at the next visit.
When treatment is no longer aimed at cure, see palliative care at home in Udupi for comfort-focused nursing.
Emotional Support
A cancer diagnosis changes life for the whole family. The nurse and caretaker give time as well as care: listening, quiet company and a calm presence in the house. They do not give medical or treatment advice beyond the doctor's plan.
